Live on the radio in Richmond:

There was not one but TWO earthquakes in VA. (Just like Norman, OK

http://media.oudaily.com/pages/ou_drudged.html

In a rare turn of seismic events, two minor earthquakes shook Norman)

In Richmond, telephone repairman working on a pole reports pole swayed. The woman whose line he was working on came out of the house and asked him if he heard the "Boom".

Another caller said that they heard "two explosions."

Another calling in from Columbia, VA (ground zero) was hiking in the woods and said he heard "a huge explosion and the ground rippled at 3:58 pm." He said "my ears are still ringing and I am still petrified."

ED NOTE: Interestingly, my own ears were ringing about 4:00-4:15 p.m. (I am in the Alleghenies in W.Va.)

Kent:

We just felt tremors here in Richmond at about 4:03 p.m. and they lasted for several minutes. Williamsburg, Va. client I was speaking to on phone just heard rumbling noise like a sonic boom, but no trembling sensation.

Thought you should know.

Our crazy compass is going nuts again. (It's 12:30, AKDT) The needle has been east, west and south, but not liking north so much. I found a spot where it has settled down, but it's still lazily swinging back and forth a little. What's up?

And, more importantly, where's my aurora? We only saw it once a couple of days ago, briefly, for about a half hour, although it did have a tinge of red in it. We used to see it every night, as soon as it started to get dark, till the lights came back up again. Now, it is sparse, it waits till late at night, makes a brief appearance and blows us a kiss goodbye, over its shoulder, like an aging film star.

Kent; we felt the earthquake here in Virginia beach; my dog hid under the covers all night; and the next day , the day of quake she hid under table till it was over; other animals in area acted very strange; a wild cat we take care of ,right before its body started jumping like it was being shocked by something, afterwards he was fine, and who owl went nuts, that lives in tree across street; they had been spraying for twenty four hours before earth quake; we now are expecting strong storms with sixty plus miles hour today; what a long strange trip it is...
