Hi Kent-I am in North Carolina-just saw in
today's Congressional Roll Call that Bill HR4546 was passed Friday in the
H of R. Here are the highlights: 1)$ 7.8 billion to advance Nuclear
Missile Defense-leaving open the possibility of putting nuclear material
on the tips of NMD interceptor missiles . 2) authorizes possible resumption
of underground nuclear testing, not done since 1992,
3)Exempts defense installations from the Endangered Species Act and
Migratory Bird Treaty Act. (Another broken treaty! ) Also tacked
on here: 4) Removed the cap of 500 on number of US troops in Columbia.
No limit. 5) Provides approx. $90 million to rebuild an Occidental
Oil pipeline in Columbia and commits US troops to guard it. Whew-a
lot more bad karma piling up on the heads of those who defend these
actions!
