THE GOLDEN MEAN, FIBANOCCI AND SCHUMANN

THE FIBANOCCI SERIES IS CALCULATED BY TAKING A WHOLE NUMBER AND ADDING IT TO THE NEXT NUMBER IN THE SERIES.

0+1=1,1+1=2,1+2=3,2+3=5,3+5=8

THUS THE SEQUENCE IS:

1..1..2..3..5..8..13..21..34..55..89..144..233..377..610..987..1597..ETC.

Dividing each number in the series by the one preceeding it produces a ratio which stabilizes around 1.618 or the golden mean!!

the golden mean is calculated by dividing any number by 1.618. this supplies the ratio at which the number can be divided for an asthetic division.

We regard this as aesthetic because it is pleasing to us, and the reason for that is probably because we are bombarded with this ratio in nature, art, music, even the human body is segmented according to this ratio. Artists have been using this ratio for composition for thousands of years. It shows up over and over again in architecture and paintings.

ratio between beats may be approaching .618, which is pHI or the Golden Mean.
