A flame-shaped solar prominence has popped up from the sun's western horizon. It's four times taller than Earth and a pleasing sight through backyard solar telescopes.

Thank you so much for your prompt fulfillment of my We Are Stardust DVD request. The disc works great and has a massive volume of important and unique information. I think of it as a ready reference for most of the galactic, solar, weather (external and psychic), extraordinary discoveries and other cosmically weird connect-the-dots stuff that punctuate these accelerated times. Thanks for posting all this information through the years and putting it all together into a movable format. Ive been an Orbit reader for years and am enjoying the trip through the WayBack-and BEYOND machine!

Financial Hurricane Bush's Painful, Lopsided Economic 'Recovery' Continues
Chinese military hacked into Pentagon: Despite our concerns about everything else that is going on in the world, particularly the criminal and criminally stupid actions of the Bush Administration, here is an article about the coming main event. China, and Russia, to a lesser extent, demonstrates a burgeoning capacity to knock out important elements of our national defense capability. China has already shown that it can knock out a US satellite (by doing just that, no matter what the news reports say about a demonstration shot - it was no demonstration; they did it to one of ours, and the USSR did the same, years ago). Now, it is demonstrating that it can knock out key defense computer systems. Meanwhile, it's expanding its military capability at a breakneck pace. Only a fool could fail to see where this is heading.--SuperSleuth
For quite awhile everyone seems to be hacking into everyone else. To make it more chaotic it could be that the best Geeks around are not necessarily employed by governments. Any code written can likely be breached, in fact anything made can be made [or un-made] by somebody else. So what do we do? Go deeper into the Orwellian slew? Or simply wake up to the fact that there are really no secrets, maybe no actual exclusive properties... and find a way to... relax. Idealistic? Utopian dreaming? Or hard-ass fact. We now have information terminals and computers way more powerful than the systems that launched our Saturn rockets to the moon. Uh-oh, what a deal!--Kent

THE PRESIDENT: We need all our coalition partners. And I would hope that -- and I understand, look, everybody has got their own internal politics. My only point is, is that whether it be Afghanistan or Iraq, we've got more work to do. We, the free world, has got more work to do. And I believe those of us who live in liberty have a responsibility to promote forms of government that deal with what causes 19 kids to get on airplanes to kill 3,000 students. Canion
thinks recent heavy rains ran them right out of their dens
CUERO, Texas (AP) Phylis Canion lived in Africa for four years. She's been a hunter all her life and has the mounted heads of a zebra and other exotic animals in her house to prove it. But the roadkill she found last month outside her ranch was a new one even for her, worth putting in a freezer hidden from curious onlookers: Canion believes she may have the head of the mythical, bloodsucking chupacabra. "It is one ugly creature," Canion said, holding the head of the mammal, which has big ears, large fanged teeth and grayish-blue, mostly hairless skin. |
