Subj: blue-green fireball in the Makiki area Date: 99-01-21 22:12:42 EST From: Rubie2zDay To: Phikent From alt.ufo reports Subject: blue-green fireball HON 10PM SE->S 1/19/99 From: Adult.Basic.Educator@mailcity.com Date: Wed, Jan 20, 1999 23:45 EST Message-id: <786bdm$lt9$1@nnrp1.dejanews.com> Last evening TUE 1/19/99 I arrived in the Makiki area (south-central foothills of the ridge) about 10PM, and while standing near a drinking fountain, looking southward, saw a blue-green fireball move quickly (but only a small fraction as fast as a meteor streak) from approximately high-south-east to low-south, meandering just slightly. A few minutes (2~5) later two airplanes followed a similar course (typical commercial) - the pilots probably saw it. The color was pretty - bright pastel-blue-green - but the direction most curious: almost toward the south pole: that seems far-off the ecliptic plane, and less usual course than say east or west - I'd (years-ago) seen a red fireball almost end-on coming-in from the west: so that it seemed to slowly wander northward. Blue-green - is that a copper meteor? [PS: is there a more regular site for current sightings] Mr. Raymond Kenneth Petry
