Subj: Re: The Pegasi "hit" and Anon affair. Date: 98-10-30 10:15:49 EST From: freedows@mail.ocis.net (Reece Karl Sellin) To: phikent@aol.com CC: lind@pitnet.net Hello Mr. Steadman. Last night a friend and I found an interesting Internet Site: http://www.seti-inst.edu/phoenix/ao-news.html The September 17th news discusses another "hit" on EQ Pegasi, this time by SETI Members.. It was dismissed as a fault, since on the second "confirmation off scan" they found out that it was just interference of some kind. My question would be this; is it possible that what the formerly anonymous british "scientist" saw is similar to the September 17th incident? Also, what if the 17th incident wasn't in error? A quick calculation shows that the frequency of the signal has changed by what would seem to be almost exactly 6.75 MHz day. (difference in frequencies/# of days between incidents). Is it possible that SETI is looking only at the claimed frequency? Wouldn't it be a reasonable assumption to think that if it was in fact an "intelligent" source, they could potentially change the frequency each day? Maybe I'm totally off the wall with this; I'm only a 3rd year CS Major, with really no formal background in Astrophysics... If you feel this to be of any merit, feel free to forward this to anyone you deem necessary. If you feel this to be totally insane, ignore that I ever sent it. Thank you for your time; Sincerely, Reece Sellin A.Sc.
