Kent: This is the electrical recording of the 5.3 earthquake in Nevada this morning.
EQ1030a.gif: The P indicator shows the start of the activity. A lot of electrical activity is apparent due to the movement of crystalline material in the earth causing a piezoelectric effect.
EQ1030b.gif: This is an expanded view at the moment of the event. The P indicator shows an electromagnetic pulse at the first shock. The S indicator points to an intense burst of pizeoelectric activity.
Note the times in the graph. A pulse from another shock is also shown at the time 09:54:14.1 UTC.
