As you will find out shortly.... I have not dropped the Current Alert Status below M6.5+... I feel that it is most probable there will be either another earthquake or a very large aftershock of the Hector Earthquake in Southern California. I based this decision on the lack of a substantial decrease in the Delta Reading since 10/15/99. As long as it stays above 40 nT I'll keep the alert at the current level of warning. As I already stated, this could yet be another separate event. So it doesn't necessarily mean it will be here in Southern California. But, previous experience tells me that you should be aware of where you're going and look for places of possible safety if the shaking starts up again. I currently do not know where the stresses are now relieved and built up since yesterday's major earthquake. I hope that USGS can give out that information like was done after the Lander's and Northridge Major Earthquakes ASAP. I believe the area where the next major earthquake in Calfornia might occur are the Owens Valley Fault Zone or San Jacinto Fault Zone because of its close relationship with the High Desert (Volcanic Center) near Lavic Lake. So go to my website and check out the ANO and MAG Graphs for the most recent information.
