Lightning kills two people in France in two days

GRENOBLE, France (Reuters) - A 13-year-old boy was killed and two of his
friends injured when they were struck by lightning in a sports field in
a mountainous region of southeastern France Monday, police said. The boy
was the second person to die from a lightning strike in France over the
past two days.

The children were playing soccer on a field near the town of
Thonon-les-Bains, in France's alpine Haute-Savoie region, when the
lightning struck. The 13-year-old died instantly while his two friends,
both 12, suffered light burns and were taken to hospital in shock.
Sunday, a 24-year-old man was killed by lightning in Paris's Tuileries
Gardens.
